YOUR LEISURE TIME IS IMPORTANT
We have gathered the essentials here at your fingertips, expanding and adding as we explore further together. Send me your recommendations for those scenic bus routes, which trains accept bicycles and where to feast and overnight with your best friends.
ADOPT A TREE
I love watching the seasons change and am spoilt for choice for which tree ‘to adopt’. I have chosen this fine oak along the Ashridge boundary trail north to enjoy throughout the year. But there’s Penn Woods, Christmas Common, Bottom Wood and the Hughenden Estate, local park or at the end of your road.
TRAVEL ESSENTIALS
The Chiltern Hills occupy the space between Oxford and London, usually seen from the car or train window as you speed through. We are in fact very close to both cities served by 4 railway lines, 20 stations and the Met Line. The bus service is passable - except the X61 which takes a scenic route from Luton airport to Aylesbury via Tring. Tickets on all good travel apps.
IN THE NEWS
Amersham Museum is bringing a whole new time-travel experience for visitors with two new galleries just opened. It’s a logical choice to chose artist ‘Marie-Louise in Amersham’ that explores her time in the town with her family and community on Chestnut Lane that helps us understand the wartime community through her eyes and her experience in exile.
